Avery took part In the big raid by Flying Fortresses on Bremen. Germany, which occurred on that date.His mother received a letter from him. dated October 6, saying he was ok and having a good time on the same day she received the Lclegram announcing lie was mis-5 Sgt. Avery enlisted in the U. S. Air Corps on November fi. 1942, and went overseas last August.Born in Benton Harbor on June 21. 1924, he was graduated from the senior high school in 1942.He has five brothers, one of whom. Howard. 23, also is in the Air Corps and stationed at Amarillo, Tex. The others are Walter, of Three Oaks, and Glen, Charles, and Vernon, at home.
