MARYLAND GAZETTE.ANNAPOLIS, THURSDAY, OUT. 27. lbl !•^ THE ENEMY.We learn bv a gentleman who arrived here on Tuesday night, in an open boat, from Choptank River, that the enemy have landed from their squadron, about 1000 men, and built two houses for barracks, on Tilghman’s-Island. lie states they arc well supplied with cattle, having nearly 400 head. We apprehend they have donemuch mischief in the neighbourhood.Tilghman's Island lies on the N. E. sideof Choptank, about 30 miles below thisplace.
