Thursday, Oct. 25. 1956 9'Chute Used ToGuide SearchersA parachule spread over thefloor of Death Valley in the shape of an arrow pointed out the path taken by an Air Force pilot who escaped from the crash of his F100 Super Sabre jet plane.The parachute aided searchers, among them an SA16 Albatross piloted by Capt. Jaspe; P. Williams of San Rafael for Hamilton Air Force Base’s 41st Air Rescue Squadron, to find the pilot, Robert J. Denn of Lancaster, a civilian employe# at Edwards Air Force Base.Denn was found unhurthitchhiking along a highway after he bailed out when his plane caught fire over the desert Monday.
