Pendleton, Calif., while serving ! I aboard the anti-submarine war-’ fare support aircraft carrier USSBennington.The operation tested the flexibility of 11,000 Marines in an amphibious landing. They were deployed in 39 ships manned by e over 0,000 Navy men.The scene of the exercise wasa hypothetical group of “nativevillages.’* As they were attacked by a 2.000 man “aggressor** force, a Marine lauding team i ^ practiced counter-guerrilla war- j p fare and helped restore law and j A order.
