Transportation to the Dedication to be Given to the Members of Regiments Who Were in the Battle.Harrisburg, Pa., Sept. 21. PJU8.The General Assembly of Pennsylvania, by Act approved June 13, I9u7, provided for the erection by the Stateof Pennsylvania, upon the Battlefield of Monocacy. of a monument to com*memorate the services of the Sixty-Seventh, Eighty Seventh and On* Hundred and Thirty Eighth Regiments ofPennsylvania Volunteer Infantr; andappropriated the sum ol live tho'sund dollars for the purpose.The Art of Assembly further provided :‘'Section 2. That there shall b* pro vlded and furnished by the Com itm wealth of Pennsylvania, to such Stateofficials and guests as the Governor may deslgnat**. and to all surviving honorably discharged Pommy, .unia sold lens who were members of tl. Eighty-seventh. and One Hundred and Thirty eighth rcgi of Pennsylvania* Volunteer ini. utry, transportation from the railway station in Pennsylvania nearest to theplace of residence of such Sta* official or guest, or of any such Pennsylvania soldier, to Monocacy and return, to enable them to be present at the dedication of said monument.Section 3. The Adjutant General Is hereby authorized and directed to provide and furnish transportation, for such State official and guest as the Governor may designate, and for such surviving honorably discharged soldiers, by railway as aforesaid, to Monocacy and return; and for such transportation he is authorized to pay such sums of money as shall be agreed upon, not exceeding one and one half cents per mile each way, by the shortest available route; and the Adjutant General shall employ all nece®* sary and practicable methods to give publicity to this act; and shall provide all necessary blank forms, and establish such rules, and incur such expense for the issuance and reception of applications and issuance of transportation to iersons legally entitled thereto, under the provisions and intent of this act. as shall In his judgment he deemed necessary.Section 4. That any person who shall personate, or attempt to personate any survivor, or secure or attempt to secure by such impersonation transportation to which lu* Is not legally entitled under the provisions of the act, shall he deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be sen tcnced to pay a tine not exceeding one hundred dollars, or imprisonment not exceeding sixty days, or both, at the j discretion of the court.**The Governor of Pennsylvania, In accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly, has fixed Tuesday, November 24, 11108, as the day on which the monument win be dedicated und the Adjutant* General, in gurstt-ance thereof, will issue transportation } to honorably discharged Pennsylvania soldiers who were members of either the Sixty-seventh (67th), the Eighty-seventh (87th,) or the One Hundred and Thirty-eighth (138) Regiments of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, to permit them to attend the dedication of the aforesaid monument, under the following regulations:1st. Transportation will be issued only to applicants who were members of either of above named regiments, and honorably discharged therefrom.2nd. Application must be made on blank form to be procured from I horn* as J. Stewart, Adjutant General. Harrisburg. Pa. No application will be considered unless made on proper form, and no transportation will be issued except upon proper application, and to persons legally entitled thereto.3rd. Transportation will be Issued only from railway station in Pennsylvania nearest to place of residence of applicant, good from that point to Monocacy. Maryland, and return ami | 1 by the shortest available route.4th. No payment or allowance is made by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for subsistence, carriage hire, wagon transportation, or Pullman Parlor Car or Sleeping Car fares.5th. The time limit of tickets will be so arranged as to penult persons using same to start sufficiently In advance of date of dedication to visit the battlefield.' ;6th. .The transpbrtatlon issued will be good going and returning by the same route, and will not permit of going by one road and returning by another. either wholly or in part.7th. In order that transportationmay be Issued and reach applicants In time, applications+must be filed not later than November 12. 1908.8th.
