Advocate Is Praised In Legion LetterThe Advocate was honored Tuesday by receiving the following letter from the commander of Newark Post 85. American Legion, in recognition of National Newspaper Week:Editor, The Advocate:On behalf of the members of Post 85 of the American Legion here in Newark. I wash to take tins opportunity during the observ-i jance of National Newspaper Week, Oct. 1961, to express ourappreciation for the great service which The Newark Advocate has performed for our community.3 We of the American Legion — £ men and women who have served I in the uniform of our country dur--jing the three wars of the Twen-Htieth Century — ere well aware ’|of the vital role a free press has ? in the perpetuation of our Aroeri-r can ideal.3 This nation has come to its - greatness on the foundation of a citizenry well informed through newspapers free of governmental control and written and edited b e courageously patriotic individuals, g The principles ang goals of the i- nation's press and The Americar Legion are inseparable.
