uctoDer i,Dear Pop, Robby and all the Rest, How is everything in the good old Catskill mountains? Right now am just waiting for a plane, so I can go back tc the good old USA. That will be a wonderful day when they wheel this Stryker frame aboard and we take off for home. Will be taken to hospital as near there as possible, where I WILL. LEARN to getaround on crutches. The cast on my arm is what is slowing things down now. Right arm is as good as ever, but the left one has this cast from the shoulder to the fingers. It is coming fine. Can move my fingers all around and the arm from the shoulder. Just takes a long time for the compound fracture at the elbow to heal.I feel fine. Yesterday I got up for the first time in a wheel chair. They thought sure I would pass out, had the windows open and one corpsman had a bottle of ammonia, but fooled them and didn't. Stayed up from 3:30 until 6:30 p. m. After chow went back to bed, was tired, but it sure seemed good to be able to sit up again. Have to get up every afternoon now. x \ Have read more the past two weeks than I ever did before. The Red Cross is very active in this hospital. They furnish you with everything you need, magazines, chewing gum, candy, fruit, cookies and have lots of games, such as Bingo. Also pass out cigarettes, but I don’t smoke anymore, haven’t since I was hit. Besides the Red Cross lady will write letters for you if you want her to. They sure have been good to us here. Will phone you soon as possible after landing, will be good to hear you all again. Guess that is about all for this time, have to be turned on my back before long.Don’t worry about me, am getting along fine. Write when you can./ Love,Bill
