Bodies Of War Victims ArriveRelatives, friends and members of veterans organizations will assemble around the railway stations at St. Marks and Ferdinand this afternoon to await the arrival of the remains of two Dubois county young men who paid the supreme sacrifice during the war with JapanPFC. GILBERT W. BATHThe casket bearing the remains of Pic. Gilbert W. Bath, son ol Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bath of St. Anthony, is scheduled to arrive at the St. Marks railway station at 2:51. The body will be taken to the home of his parents, there to remain until Tuesday morning, when services will be held In St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mem* bers of Jasper Post 147. American Legion, will conduct military luneial rites at the grave in the church cemetery.Private Bath was killed on Luzon. in the Philippines, on May 2. 1945, when a mortar shell exploded near him during an attack on a strongly-fortified Jap position. He served with the 152nd Infantry, 38th Division.Entering military service on April 17. 1941. he received most of his training at Camp Shelby. Miss. From there he went to Camp Car-abella, Fla., and later to Camp Livingston, La. In December of 1943, he was sent to the Hawaiian Islands, and later to New Guinea and Luzon.He was born on December 6, 1918, knd was 36 years old at the time of his death. He attended the parochial school at St Anthony, For five years prior to his Induction, he wjts employed in the cabinet room/Of the Hoosler Desk Company In Jasper.Surviving besides his parents are three sisters, Mrs. Antoinette Taylor and Mrs. Charles Pfaff of Evansville and Mrs. Frank Burke of St. Anthony; and a brother. Buddy, of 6t. Anthony.PFC. DANIEL J. HAUGThe body of Pfc. Daniel J. Haug, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Haug of Ferdinand, is due to arrive in Ferdinand at 3.30 this afternoon on the short-line train that runs between that community and Hunt-ingburg. A guard of honor composed of members of the Ferdinand Post, American Legion, will escort the remains to the Victor Becher Funeral Home. Services will be held in St. Ferdinand Church at 6 A. M Monday, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The Ferdinand Legion Post will conduct the military funeral rites at the grave in the church cemetery.Private Haug was killed by shrapnel when a shell exploded near him on Luzon, in the Philippines, on April 6, 1945, just 23 days short of hts 21st birthday.He was Inducted into the Army on March 6, 1943, at the age of 19. He received his basic training In the Medical Corps at Camp But' ner, N. C., and later received surgical training at Riley General Hospital in Missouri. He was then sent to Ft. Bennlng. Oa., and transferred into the 511th Paratroop Division. In November of 1944 he went overseas, first to New Guinea and later to the Philippines where he served with the 11th Airborne Division.At the time of his Induction, he was employed at Robert’s Dairy, Indianapolis.Surviving besides the parents are three brothers, Harold, Leroy and Clarence of Ferdinand; and a sister, Mrs. Donna Bechtel of Anderson, Ind.
