Alaska Initial B-50 Operation'The first training ojeration for the new B-50's now arriving at Davis-Monthan air force base will be 45-day assignments in Alaska. Col. James C. Bailey will see duty in Alaska in the next six months. The first squadron will leave Nov.1, the second Dec. 15 and the third Feb. 15.Essentially the B - 50 heavy• *bomber is a refinement of the B-29 which carried the war bv air to Japan during the past war. A few of the new Superfortresses havebeen at the base for months toj familiarize officers and crews with the new craft and others are arriving.The order of departure of the squadrons is: 63rd, commanded by j Lt. Col. Ralph W. Stanley, 65th,commanded by Lt. Col. Richard W. Kline; and the 64th, commanded by Lt. Col. Michael McCoy. The destination in Alaska will be the Eilson air force base.
