Huge Fall And Winter SportsProgram Planned For GruberfResults of an all-day sports meeting held last Tuesday between athletic officers of AGF troops under the supervision of 25th headquarters, special troops, Fourth Army, and camp athletic officials point to one of the broadest fall and winter athletic programs ever sponsored at Camp Gruber. Sports events that fit every GI's fancy are geing organized, and the camp athletic office has announced that trophies and prizes of many varities will be awarded winners in all departments.Honerfhoe Tournament Beginning on Monday, October 15, an all-camp, single eliination horseshoe tournament will get underway. The matches will be held on a splendid*^-horseshoe court adjacent to the'ing arena .behind Service clubcamp Sports arena. Time of play will be decided by the organizations entering teams2.Deadline for entries in the boxing fanfare will be at highin conjunction with a schedule n ber f‘hhm,nri hv SDOrts arena at' ers except in te heavyweighttendants.Singles matches only will be featured in the horseshoe competition, and team members must win two out of three before a winner is chosen. Trophy going to the winning team will be a gold loving cupclass must weighin at the Sports arena at 1 p.m. on the day the tournament opens.Golden Glove rules will be observed during the boxing matches, one stipulation being that fighters can weighin only once. Deadline for entries is Thursday, October 18. Teams will be composed of six players.Following conference play, a single elimiantion volleyball tournament will be put into motion with games being played on courts at the Sports arena. Ten members of thewinning team in the tournament will receive sterling silver identification bracelets.Touch FootballPigskin enthusiasts will get their chance on the gridiron in the shape of a single round-robin touch football confer,ed: Flyweight, 1121bs; Bantamweight, 118 lbs; Featherweight, 126 lbs; Lightweight, 135 lbs; Welterweight, 147 lbs; Middleweight, 160 lbs; Light-heavy weight, 175 lbs; Heavyweight, no limit. Golden Glove rules allow a one pound discrepancy in these classifications.Trophies which will be presented to the boxing champs are one to the team amassing the most points. Points will be figured as follows: five for a winner, three for a runner up and one for a loser in the semi-finals.
