toinirelasne,ortwolenowThe largest crowd that ever visited French Lick came Sunday to see the dress parade of the Twenty-third regiment of regulars now in camp near that city. Excursion trains began to arrive early in the day and when the regiment lined up for parade it was estimated ten thousand people were present. The regimental drill was /cheered by the thousands of spectators as the most wonderful maneuvers they bad ever seen. Before the parade there was a baseball game between ua team of soldiers and the Sprudels, of ! West Baden. The Sprudels won by a j score of 11 to 2. j Thomas Taggart gave a banquet for the officers and their wives at the French Lick hotel Saturday night. Mrs. Taggart was assisted in receiving by her three daughters and Mrs. Thomas Taggart, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Van Camp, of and Mr. and Mrs. Cortland Van Camp, of Indianapolis, were among the out-of-town guests.General Hoyt, who came there to inspect the regiment, has gone to Chicago. He reported the regiment in first-class condition.Private Miller, of Company C, who was wounded at the sham battle Saturday, has been ent back to Ft. Benjamin Harrison.tlt;aeaPI!tlct)SI.rf:nt:c
