A Matrimonial Experience.Mrs. Susan D. Morgan of Harper’s 'Ferry, was last week found not guilty in the U. S. Oourtat Baltimore upon i trial on an indictment charging her | with haying committed purjery in swearing she was the widow of Lawson Morgan, a soldier, when she had : never been married to him. About thirty years ago, when she was Mies lt;Susan Haines, she married Frederick White, a Union soldier. Soon after the marriage she was desserted by her husband, who confessed to her \ that he had another wife living. |Seven years later she married Lawson Morgan, another Union soldier, and they lived happily together until the time of his death seventeen years I later. She then applied for a pension.While the case was pendine she engaged to marry another Union soldier, John Nuse, of Washington, D. C. At his instance she recently instituted proceedings for divorce against her first husband in Hagers town, on the ground that the first marriage was a nullity. Mr. Nuse said he intended to marry Mrs. Mor gan as soon as she obtained her di ! vorce. Mrs. Morgan is about fifty years old. She has neyer had any children.
