FIGHTING CHAPLAIN HOMEFormer SaHisaw Minister in IT. S.Lieut. Clinton D. Bowman, known as the “fighting chaplain” arrived in Hoboken - on transport Callo. He was formerly Presbyterian minister at Sal-lisaw, Oklahoma, .and went overseas with 141st infantry of the 36tli division, being later transfered to the 18th infantry. On October 8th near St. Etienne, despite the fact that he was a chaplain , and non-combatant, he obtained a rifle and went “over the top” with troopers, fighting side by side and aiding in carrying back wounded. He won the croix de guerre.—(New York Paper). Rev. Bowman is \ve!l known in this city, having resigned as pastor of First Presbyterion church of this city to enter the army. Although he was among the first to be called un-A ¥ •der the selective draft law he was ex-eippted, but later offered his services ot his country. He was overseas fif-* 9teen months.
