The stars and stripes were in evidence both indoors and out of doors. There was a pathetic feature of the decoration—a flag which enveloped the pine-box in which Asa Blanchard amember of Co. B. was placed, at the time of his death, and sent to his i friends at Richmond. Asa Blanchard . w’as killed at the battle of Gettysburg. | The pine box which served as his coffin appeared insecure and was bound together by a rope. One of his com- s rades, standing by, picked up a flag from the battle field and wound it around the improvised coffin; this flag was preserved; it has figured in the decorations of the first and second gatherings, and it will have a promiu-ent place io the decorations of all future meetings of the association.
