Tartt.Biloxi, Oct 3rd,.—Eighty five Confederate Veterans, their wives and widows, inmates of the JeffersonDavis Soldiers Home leparted from Beauvo:r Yesterday afternoon, .their destination . feeing \ Houston Texas where theyj’Will attend the United a Confederate Veteran reunion which j takes place Oct 5th ,6th 7th and 8th.The party will bp. in charge of Superintendent Elnathan Tartt and wife and two trained nurses Migges Virginia Bechel and Miss Quinie May Tarbutton.- Every facility, for the ollt;i .folks to ride in comfort was arranged Through the untiring efforts of Superintendent Tartt the L..N R-R. and the Southern Pacific R.R. agreed to handle the 85 inmates of the Jefferson Davis Soilders Home absolutely free of cOst.Superintendent Tartt also took thematter up with the Pullman Company at. Ghieago and they very kindly agreed to furnish a Tourist pullman car free of charge for the use of the, Beauvoir Veterans and the sleepers will be parked at Houston, so if nec-cesary the veteran will have a place to sleep while in Houston. The L.-N. R-R. has' also very kindly agreed to furnish a chair car free of charge for the Beauvoir old folks.Superintendent Bose,of the L. .N.[ R-R- and President W.R. Scott andMr. J.H.R- Parsons, General Manager; Southern Pacific have written Supt. Tartt that they will do every thingpossible to make the old veteranshave a grand ride over their respective systems.Supt Tartt says it is all a mistakeabout large public corporations having no hearts. The Railroads for the past 18 years have granted every request made for the old veterans at theJefferson Davis Soldiers Home. Eachyear the railroads gladly furnish free transportation and free equipment for the Beauvoir Veterans to attend the Reunions.'Special arrangements have been made in private Homes in Houston for the free entertainment of the Beauvoir inmates.The very best of arrangements have been made for my crowd said Supt Tartt in fact every thing is chicken and pie and the old folks are on the very tiptoe of anxiety, Some of them having had their grips packed for several days.IAIVsbe:V tl tl ti ti
