Elmer WhitleyJuly 13,1933 - Oct. 2,2006MIDDLESEX — Mr. James Elmer Whitley, 73, of 11755 Lodge Road, died Monday, October 2, 2006 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2006 from Shingleton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Blackman officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex.He was a loving husband, father, granddaddy and “Pa” who was a retired farmer and a deacon of Rock Springs FWB Church.He is survived by his wife, Peggy Bass Whitley of the home; one daughter, Frances W. Anderson and husband, Ray, of Bailey; two sons, Keith Whitley and wife, Glenda, of Bailey and Greg Whitley of Middlesex; two sisters, Marie Manning of Middlesex and Rebecca Jones of Zebulon; one brother, Oscar Whitley Jr. of Bailey; three grandchildren, Bradley Whitley and wife, Amanda, Wesley Anderson and Erica Anderson; and three stepgrandchildren, Amber, Jessica and Michelle Williams.He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.The family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 p.m. at Shingleton and other times at the residence.Flowers are welcome or donations in memory of Elmer Whitley may be made to Rock Springs FWB Church Pew Fund, c/o Keith Whitley, 6218 Finch Road, Bailey, NC 27807.
