Harris bas written a letter to bis family in this city from which we hare been permitted to make extracts which we know will interest the families and friends of other Thomas-ville boys who are in Cnba. Mr. Harris is in Col. Ray’s regimentof immnnes. and is at presentstationed at Guantanamo. Among other things he says:•‘About two-thuds of the regiment are sictand unfit for duty. The rainy season will be over here abont Oct. 5tb, and I think if we can hold out until that time we will get along fairly well. There are lots of sick boys, but we have not bad any more deaths that I know of. The few of us that keep up have to do so much double duty we,will soon have to go down too. We presented a petition to Col. Ray several days ago to take us away from here, but don’t suppose it will have any effect. All the boys are dissatisfied and long to get home.* If I can only live to get back I am satisfied I will nev-er’leave again. We have’nt been paid any thiug since our arrival, and bave’nt tasted a piece of fresh meat nor a biscuit, in fact we get scarcely anything to eat, a little piece of light bread and weak coffee is a sample of our meals. Somo times we fail to get the coffee and frequently have uo sugar. It is a wonder to me that we don’t all die. I am satisfied if the people of the United States knew how we are being treated and the useless danger we are in they would force the President or congress to release us. Chaplain Parker, Hall Parker aud Ed Thompson are very well, all of them being in better shape than myself.” *ElParagiJohnToratorrid.A re is on iifleeting or Teacfiers Association. The! are betAtlaito rankAtlai ment aFishhibitedShafgan. 1Alge ing offiwhole tAtlai ceived, “The 18aga the Sp cortes cEver state sb 5th of (Corbi in g. knock 1It“pie’ . for mult; The lt;Let eve
