Indian JJjTuira.—*Our readers doubtless re- f°r ®collect that some time ago Ttcutmrh% the bro- I sufferther of the Prophet, and an artful in: tiguing suflicinun, advanced with a large body of Indians I wc A*say seven or eight hundred, to Vuu tnnes, I toplaiwith a view, as is fully believed, to have sur- vlCcprized and attacked the town ; to luve ga- «d.thered, a harvest of scalps and plunder, and *-c1then returned probably within the Britishterritory. Gov. Harrison, when applied to,refused permission to these Indians to adproach, Tecumseh then requested to be admitted with a part of them ; Gov. II. permitted him to enter the town with about anhundred and eighty, on condition that theyshould leave their arms behind them. Theycame, however, armed with their knives.Meanwhile the Governor had the garrison ofthe fort drawn up under arms, together withtwo or three companies of militia. The appearance of this force had a wonderful effecton Tecumseh, who with his usual artfulnessprofessed the greatest friendship and respectfor the authority of the United States ; declared that he meant merely a visit of compliment, and that he was desirous of visitingsome friendly tribes below, with whom hewas connected. He passed below, leaving theProphet, with the main body of his forces.above Vincennes. We are now apprised, by the articles wcthis day copy from Western prints, that Gov.Harrison is about to move for the purpose ofdispersing this formidable body of intruders, for which purpose he is to employ Col.Boyd’s regiment, together with a portion of the militia arid some volunteers. It is notprobable that there will be any blood shed. The Prophet is represented as being no wai-rior, and will probably retire with precipitalion when ordered to do so; but the magnitude of the force employed wiil convincethese poor deluded wretches, that, if everthey dare lift a tomahawk against our settiers as a nation or body, exterminationwould lie their fate.Wc are pleased to learn that our govern-tons | of th(smatheirgivedesinmeat is erecting blockhouses and establishing a line of posts along our north westernfrontier, which will probably obviate any future obtrusion from the same quarter.(Nut, Intelligencer.Extrl.o14 «ham*him ifountof Ccginetto besome of A iStor«CotttTlmaruthe athe IchanPresthe IBiiu*withnpoltLngl\\beavSeptserveMaybeenN. aboutto th
