Lieutenant John C. Heath, B,A.in ’38, missing in action since November 2, 1943, is believed to be alive. His mother, Mrs. Meda Heath has received a letter from the War Department which was accompanied by the Air Medal.Heath was eo-pilot on a B-25. Several months ago a short wave Tokyo broadcast listed two of the B-25 crew members as prisoners of war, and although no word has been received from him in over a year, the letter from the WarDepartment stated that it was likely that he too had been captured.In this raid, the B-25’s shot down eight Japanese fighters and 50,000 tons of merchant shipping was destroyed, three destroyers sunk, two cruisers and considerable shipping sunk, two cruisers and considerable shipping damaged. Heath’s plane was the only one lost, and the sitation said, ; “the courage and devotion dis-, played by this crew- member is i worthy of commendation. !He was employed by the draft- : mg department of the oil and gas division of the railroad commission before enlisting in the A. 4. F. in June, 1942, and was sent overseas in August, 1943.
