Dale E CorneliusDale F. Cornelius, 83, of Avon Lake, World War II veteran and engineer, died Wednesday at St John West Shore Hospital in Westlake following a one-week illness.Born in Elyria, he moved to Avon Lake in 1957 after living in Ann Arbor, Mich.He was a graduate of the University of Mchigan.He served in the Army as a lieutenant during World War H Mr. Cornelius was employed as an engineer for Ford Motor Company for 30 years.He was a member of the Friends of Avon Lake Library and treasurer for the Lively Avon Lakers.He also enjoyed cooking and traveling.Survivors include his daughters Karen Cornelius of England and Karol Cornelius of Kipton; sons Chris of St. Ignatius, Mich., and Gary of Galena, and 13 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by Ms wife, Jean, in 1986, and his parents, Albert G. and Edna (nee Eve) Cornelius.Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and from S to 9 p.m. Sunday at Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd.A private family memorial service will be held.Cremation will be by Busch Crematory.Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
