Viet Nam Guerillas Hit HardSAIGON, Viet Nam (AP) -Moving smoothly on the ground and supported by artillery and helicopter strikes, government forces killed at least 46 Viet Cong and captured ?0 today 27 miles southwest of Saigon.In addition, to the confirmed dead, the guerrillas were estimated to have lost 90 in killed and wounded carried from the battlefield of lush green rice paddies near Chao Gao.The government also claimed 73 Viet Cong killed in a heavy engagement near the North Vietnamese frontier and 17 killed in three separate actions in Quang Nam province on Friday,Saigon was calm under mar-1 iial law after a week of civil unrest that left more than 100 persons injured in street riots.Buddhist students, nevertheless. completed plans to hold a public funeral Sunday for a 15-vear-old boy shot during antigovernment demonstrations.In an attempt to head off violence, military Gov. Brig. Gen. Pham Van Dong issued special r estrictions for the funeral: only 200 persons may follow the rjody; they must ride in cars, and the caravan must take the shortest route from Buddhist headquarters to Gia Dinh cemetery.Prospects for maintenance of calni were dealt a blow with an announcement by one of South Viet Nam’s most influential Buddhist leaders that unless the new civilian government is removed legally, “then we will take steps to remove it ourselves.”
