Sgt Jim Whisenhunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whisenhunt of Mt. Vernon, is a veteran member of the Flyers basketball team at Cherry Point, N. C, Marine Base.JIM WHISENHUNTJim, now in his fourth year asj a Marine, piayed three years of oasketball at Bluford high schoi. Going into the Corps from high school, he took over the guard position on the Cherry Point basketball team.Although only 5 feet 10 inches in height, he makes up for his lack of height in spirit. The team coach said. “At the present time the ball club lacks a spark plug a holler guy, like Eddie Stanky, and I am looking for Jim to provied it for the team.”Sgt. Whisenhunt is in clothing i supply work at the station quartermaster. He expects to be discharged in eight months and plans to attend college.
