It was announced Saturday that Lamoine Point was to be the fortunate location, and as this placeis but six miles from Bar Harbor by water,*it is an admirable situation all things con sidered. The property to be acquired in-'hides sixty nrre ; of land with a v..,tt_r front of [50 rods.When we consider how our navy hasbeen increased the past few years by the arid it ion of new vessels, requiring thereby an increased number of officers and men to handle them, and that the end is not yet in sight, we realize that bow much some might wish to have it otherwise, it would not be desirable to have our war ships all centered at any one point, i lerc-after Bar Harbor will share with New port the- honors of entertaining I’ncle Sam’s gallant defenders on the sea, and all our summers will be enlivened by theirpresence.Admiral Bradford, in selecting the I.a-uioine site was prompted no doubt by a desire to conserve the best interests ol the government, and thanks are due him for that sagacity w hich caused him to srlei t a location so favorable to Bar Harbor
