LIEUT. IS. B. McKEAN, V.C., M.V.Anne Merrill, the bright overseas correspondent for the Edmonton Journal, writes personal touches of many Canadian soldiers. Recently on her list is the name of Lieut. George B. McKean, who is a brother of Mrs. Jonas Lait, of this city. Miss Merril writes:“Liuet. Geo. B. McKean, V.C., M.M., has had the M. C. added to his decorations as the outcome of that latest exploit I wrote you of before, and he Is soon to be a captain as well. At present he is in the Kitchener War hospital in Brighton, having been transferred there recently from a London hospital.He is quite comfortably ‘settled down’ he writes, and like it much better than the previous ‘residence,’ which shall be nameless, but which is pretty thoroughly disliked by both Canadians and Imperials. ‘The food and attention are both excellent,’ the V.C. adds of the Brighton hospital, ‘and it is such a bright, cheey place. The weather, too, has been quite fine, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting down to the sea front.’Lieut. McKean’s wife is living with her mother in Calgary at present.”
