Plane Crashes Near Border, No Injuries ResultST. LEONARD, N.R. W-Twclveofficers and airmen, many of them homeward Ixjund on fur-lough, escaped without a scratch yesterday in the crash-landing of an Air Force €4/transport planein a hay field.The pilot. Capt. Diltred Allard of Lowell. Mass.. said an apparent m; ltunctioning of the fuel system caused both the plane’s engines to lose power during a flight from Goose Bay, Labrador, to Westovor Air Force Base, Mass.Coming in for a wheels-up landing. the plane brushed some treetop ; before dropping to the ground and skidding along on its belly. Part of one wing was torn off when the craft hit the trees.The men were brought to Loring AFB at Limestone, Maine, by helicopters dispatched trom boring and Presque Isle AFB. The one wa about 10 miles north of this community on the northernMaine border. *
