Valley Man Receives a g.' Military Medal In SicilyPte. Melvin Joseph Taje of National Mills, Manitoba, near Hudson Bay Junction, Sask, was one of two former Manitobans awarded the Military Medal in connection with the Canadian army’s participation in the Sicilian campaign, military authorities announced in Winnipeg.Pte. Taje’s name was included in alist of military awards given Canadian soldiers serving in Sicily announced by the National Defence Department, Ottawa, on November 4th.Pte. Taje was born In Edmonton, Alberta, 23 years ago. He was living at National Mills when he enlisted in the Saskatoon Light Infantry im February, 1940. He went overseas in July of the same year.
