Ivan Satkin.“Being over there with these men was nothing short of glorious,” he said.The 111th, he said, set many records throughout training and continued after deployment.Salkin said enemy attacksincreased following the soldiers’' • ireturn to New Mexico, which he said was the reason for the violence,“The highest compliment we could have received was thatthe enemy knew we left,” Salkin said.Although there were minor injuries for those in the 111th, a National Guard spokesperson said there were’ no major injuries, Only one New Mexico National Guardsman, a military police officer from Farmington, has'been killed in Iraq.
