Capt. Grossnickel arrived in Seattle last week and expects to be discharged soon. He has been in service five years with the 77th division of the Field artillery. He saw action during the last two years in Guam, Leyte and Okinawa. After a rest period in the Philippines at Cebu, he was transferred to Japan, and was stationed in both Hokadate and Yokohama. His wife and two-year-old daughter live in Chicago.His brother, Sergeant Arden Grossnickle, a paratrooper with the 11th airborne unit, was among the first men to land in Japan. This unit made preparations for General MacArthur’s landing. Before this assignment, Sgt. Grossnickle saw action in New Caledonia, New Guinea, Australia, Netherlands, East Indies, the Philippines and Okinawa.Both men are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. K. E.
