John Clements of the United States Marines arrived in his hometown of Nederland October 11, he was met by a new face-that of his son, John Leroy. Young John was bom three months ago while his father was in thick of the^ fighting in Korea.One of* the reservists recalled to active duty shortly after the “police action broke out in Korea, in the summer of 1950, Clements has been gone over a year, eight months of which was spent in Korea with the First Marine division. He has been released to inactive status and has another yearto serve in the reserve:, but» with little likelihood of being recalled to duty.A member of Company B,Seventh regiment, Cpl. Clements was acting as a squad leader when his turn for rotation to the states Came up. During his combat career* rhinese and thewinter uniforms men the same day.During his stay in Korea Clements ran into only two Nederland boys, Gilbert Theriot and R.P. Goulas. Goulas is now back in Nederland. He also heard from Diaries Sheehan of Nederland who is in different Marine regiment and was reportedly doing alright.This was Cpl. Clements second visit to the South Pacific having served with occupation forces at the close of World War II in Okinawa. He also had a tour of duty in Hawaii.,Now that he is back in Nederland, Cpl.
