—On Thursday Inst while Paul Tesmer,of Tornado, was engaged in chopping he struck what he supposed to bo solid wood hat which proved to bo a mere shell, through which the ax passed and entered his right ankle, cutting It In a shocking manner. Surgical aid was procured in this city and the wound properly cared for, but it is considered certain that tho ankle cannot be restored to its former condition, but will always re-jnalh stiffened.
