Emblem e^'yOTHER SERVICES HELDAt the Silver Dale school last Wednesday morning two Civil War veterans who participated in the battle of Shiloh, as comrades of Company K of the 25th Indiana Infantry, John Casteel of Dawson Springs, Ky., and William Middleton of Hatfield, hoisted the flag over the school build- ; ing; The service was participated in by the 108 school children who saluted in the proper way the flag and the old comrades. l'\: The school pupils sang the “Star Spangled Banner,” and Charles F. Brown made a fine talk to the children extolling the ■ splendid lives of the two comrades who were guests of the school. Afterward Mrs. Cordelia Glackman, recently elected state president of the Auxiliary Of the American Legion, addressed .the pupils informally on the subject, “The Pleasure of Service to Those Who Served.” Her address was excellent.Mr. Casteel was wounded at the battle of “Hatchie River,Tenn., and saw his comrade, Potts Morgan, uncle of Mrs. C. F. Brown, fall at his side, fatally, shot by the enemy.The Silver Dale school will have an old style spelling bee,N where the best speller in “Me- -Guffy”* will stand vto the end, okThe Parent-Teacher : club willserve refreshments.• .* ■* . . •_The teachers at Silver Dale are James N.
