Paschal, a formerSchoolfield High School football*standout who was killed in aerial combat during World War II, will be held in the Zachary Taylor Cemetery at Louisville, Ken., on December 14.This information was receivedtoday from his father, William B.• • ' * •Paschal, formerly of Park PlaceApartments in Schoolfield and• • ' »how living in Durham. %The service will be a group re-burial with four of his companions being interred at the same time.Sgt. Paschal was flying as an aerial gunner on a Mitchell bomber over a bridge in central Italy on December 2, 1943, when his plane received a direct hit from enemy aircraft batteries.The forward part of the *plane was enveloped in flames and it started to lose altitude. Two crew members bailed outMajor Harold S. Farrell later wrote, the family:“Through John’s service with my squadron he courageously completed 27 combat missions. He was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. John was an excellent gunner in the air and a “tops’* soldier on the ground. His exploits are unsurpassed of which you and I and his many friends are proud.”Deceased was a graduate of Schoolfiela High School in the class of *42. He served as co-captain xof the football team and was a member of the school glee club and band. Before entering the service, he was employed at the Schoolfield canteen.
