Hood lost his leg in the fight on feunday. The battle of Ghlckamsnga was fought on Saturday and Sunday, 10th and 20m. The loss in our regiment was light. Oapt. Proud foot was wounded badly in the toot. Mordira Bryan, son of Dr. Bryan of Houston, was killed. John Brioghur*t was wounded, but not dangerously. Our Brigade suffered severely. We lost our Brigadier, Gen. De shier—the braverst man I ever raw. Our brigade waa in the hottest of the fight—two other brigades bad to fall back from the position we had taken, and where we stood our ground.
