Pvt Donald I.. Warden, 18. Shawneetou n, recently returnedto Fort Belvoir, Vy., after helping construct the 'DEW” (Distant Early Warning) line of radar stations north of the Arctic Circle in Canada. Pvt. Warden’s unit, the 588th Engineer Construction battalion, unloaded thousands of tons of cargo front sea-going ships to inland supply dumps. The men worked around the clock in 12 hour shifts because of the short, 40-day ice-free period in the Arctic.
