Fisher in Hospital.John E. Fisher, who is with the 'Seventh Ammunition Train in France, •wrote a letter to his parents, Mr. and’Mrs. Sam P. Fisher, under date of October 5, stating that he was in the hospital, but hoped to be out in a few days. He did not give any further particulars. Mr. Fisher has been in France since August.Later.—His mother received the following letter last Monday:France, October 14.Dear Mother:—Am in the hospital with pleurisy, but am getting on very /well and will be up soon. Am enclosing coupon. Your son,Per nurse. JOHN.Clarence Bigler, who was wounded gome time ago in action in France, writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bigler, of Blue River township, that ttie is getting along nicely and that the ‘wound on his arm has healed. He is in a hospital in France.Mrs. Carrie McGillen, of Elizabeth, orders the Republican sent to her son, Private Herschel Underhill, Headquarters 4th Field Artillery Brigade, Amer. Ex. F.f France.The Republican has received fromDr. J. Ray Frank, in the Medical Department of the service at Quantico, ^Virginia, a copy of the Marines Magazine, a publication filled with many interesting articles; also a copy of a pamphlet written by Dr. M. J. Exner, Secretary of the International Committee of Young Men’s Christian Associations, dealing with problems of vital concern to the soldiers. This is a book that should be in the hands of every young man, whether he is in the service or not. The name of C. A. Miller, Co. 131, Field Artillery. Quantico, Va., is written on the cover.The verses entitled “The Kaiser’s Talk to Hell,” were printed in the Republican soon after that famous production first appeared. However, it seemsjthat many readers of the paper overlooked the verses, as we have received numerous requests since that time for their publication. The last request comes from Homer Barksdale, a Harrison County boy in the service. When we have more space we will reproduce the veerses for the benefit of those who failed to take notice of thefirst publication.Mr. and Mrs. J. J. William Brown'and Guy 0. Brown visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Brown, in ‘ Scott township, last week. Guy is an electrician in the navy and is located at the U. S. Submarine Base at New London, Conn. He came last Thursday to spend a ten-days’ furlough here. William is in training at Ft. BenjaminHarrison and was given leave to spend Saturday night and Sunday with home»'fol ks.Ray Mauck is seriously ill at Camp Taylor, and his father, William I. Mauck, of White Cloud, who visited him last Surnfay, was called back after he had returned home that night toy a message that his condition was growing worse. He suffered a complication of ailments, includingmeasles and pneumonia.Hurley Conrad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Conrad, of this place, has been transferred from Camp Taylor to Camp Jackson, South Carolina, He is still with a band.Ruskin Rowe, who is in the aero service and has been in England several months, has been transferred to France, arriving there October 16. His brother Russel, who has been a cook in Company C, 335th Regiment, has been transferred from that company and is no longer with Kean Irwin and the other Harrison County boys who were together some time after arriving In France.Dr. B. E. Lemmon, of Greencastle, Ind., a boy born and reared in Cory-' don, has just returned from Roches-'jter, Minn., where he was taking surgery under the Mayo brothers, the greatest surgeons in the world. He \lhas been recommended for Captain.5 He has also received orders for overseas and will sail at once. He belongs Evacuation Hospital No. 53, and has n charge of wards 17 and 18. Dr. Lem-^Hion is a young man, a thirty-two degree Mason, and has a bright future .'before him.- In a letter to his wife at this place, 'jOharles Jordan says that lie recently *bet a Harrison County girl in France. dShe was Miss Jeannette Miller, of llauckport, who is a Rod Cross nurseIn a hospital with which he is connected .ceived a card last Saturday announcing her husband’s arrival overseas.Lieutenant Carlton Daniel has been assigned to duty on a transport carrying sick and wounded soldiers from Europe.
