We are ure the writer of the article, who is not in any way connected with this paper, did not intend to cast any re*(Wtions on the members of the militia company from this town. Many ruses of bad conduct by a few of the tale troops were reported form ttime to time by the Cheyenne pajiers, but m* member of company F was connected with any of the affairs that we know of. All citizens of Douglas, including The Enterprise families will be pleased to rend Captain H i shop's letter ami to know that moral conditions arc* much hotter than many have been led to believe.Captain Bishop's LetterIteming, N. M.t Nov. 3, 1916. Editor Enterprise,Douglas, Wyo.Dear Sir:I just returned from the National matches in Florida and llnd the membership of Company h‘ very indignant over an article concerning their conduct while in Cheyenne which appeared in your paper some few weeks ago. There is no need to rehearse the article but 1 wish to my that there is no truth in it, and in justice to the men of our company, we would appreciate it if, in the future, you would investigate before publishing articles which would tend to create a wrong impression of the National Guard of Wyoming, and especially of your own home company. Here are a few facts that you should publish, in order that citizens who read the former article will notbo left with a false impression of real army life, either in the mobilization ramp at Cheyenne or at Deming. The benefits are manifold. A manis developed physically and mentally,is taught discipline, and as to morals, 1 can assure you that there jg not one man of this organization who is the worse morally because of having served (luring this term. My jiersonal Opinion is that the majority of the men will return to their homes better citizens than when they left.We have a large V. M. C, A. here, where the men may go evenings, play games, watch the movies, hear good lectures, write letters home and attend Sunday sendees. There are manyother ways for the men to spend their spare time, such as playing football, baseball, etc.I wish to mention one thing which can lw» proven by the military records. It is this: There has never b**en aingle case of venereal disease of any kind in Company F since the I'resident's call, in closing I will say that the members of Company F did not join the army for either profit or for pleasure.Very truly yours,L.
