PffioM WlKTAUD ItOASS OtHJKTlM.—Major Trimblf, of this oily, returned yesterday from Wirt and Itoano Counties.— The people down there continue to lit© a very exciting life* There is hardly a man in Wirt county who lifts taken anything like a position upon either side that hits ant been shot at, at least onto. A regiment of Union soldiers, to be commanded by CoL Rfltbbonc, is being organised, and nomeeight hundred men have already been recruited. The headquarters will he at Wnlkcr's Station until the regiment in fall. The Union soldiers have leceotly captured quite a number of prisoners, among them a sbr»*wd fellow by the name of Byrne, who has been recruiting for the O. S. A. This Byruc had sneaked about among the Union troops stationed at different points, and by telling them nil sorts of lies, and offering them fabulous prices and positions of- honor, endeiisored to persuade them to desert. In this way he bad poisoned tho minds of some, and but for the fuet thnt be approached a true man, might have Induced many to desert and carry off tbeir guns. This trueman e xposed the rascal, and bts wna arrested and confined in the Wirt county jail.In Wirt county, at least, it has boon demonstrated that no able-bodied men can occupy a noutral position. Those who lake no position in the struggle are suspected and shut at by both sides, and their only hope ia to leave or take up a gun.
