Christian Plansman, went looking for Hughes.As they emerged from a building in the administrative area they encountered Hughes, who Forced them to accompany him out the main gate and then back to the motor pool.“When the armorer saw Hughes put the pistol on the two fficers,” the spokesman said,he returned to the arms room and got an M14 rifle.0As the three came through a reak in the fence near the moor pool, the armorer fired the •ifle.The Army said that the soldier ntended to wound Hughes but hat the bullet hit him in the lock.
