Whenthe Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, brother Charles — the only one who enlisted — was in the Philippines.Another brother, Mark, was a young Marine with combat duty at Okinawa and Iwo Jima, and was a short distance from the well-publicized flag-raising at Mount Suribacha. Fred put in 27 years with the Air Force. Mark suffered the only casualty, a shrapnel wound of the leg. Charles and Fred are deceased.After the war, a sixth brother, Narry Wesley Kidd, enlisted in the Navy.
