RecoveryShips OffTo Stations1I 1YOKOSUKA, Japan (UPI) — ] Pacific Fleet ships have left t Yokosuka and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for stations in the middle and western Pacific in support of the Gemini-12 launch.U.S. Naval Forces in Japan said the destroyers Ozbourn and Hollister left this Japanese port Monday to take up their stations 600 miles south of Yokosuka.The destroyer Joseph Strauss and fleet oiler Kawishiwi left Pearl Harbor positions about 300 miles northeast of Hawaii.They will serve as recovery ships in the event of a middle or western Pacific splashdown by astronauts James Lovell and Edwin Aldrin.In addition to the four destroyers, eight U.S. Air Force planes and one U.S. Coast Guard aircraft have been placed on station at points across the Pacific from San Diego to Perth, Australia.Gemini-12 is scheduled for an Atlantic recovery, but Task Force 130 will be standing by in the event of an emergency splashdown in the Pacific.
