Richard Housman Cited; Aided in Capture of GuamPfc. Richard Housman. son ofMr. and Mrs. John Housman.10432 South Park, has beenawarded the combat infantryman badge for outstanding performance of duty and exemplary conduct in the Guam campaign.Housman is a bugler in a rifle company in the infantry. In the campaign he acted as messenger for his commanding officer. His company was one of the first to cross Maanot ridge on Guam and. capturing the town of Yona. they proceeded to Pago Bav, cutting the island in half. This action separated the enemy forces into two pockets in the northern and southern ends of the island.Pvt. Housman graduated from Fenger High school with the class of '43 and was later employed by the Rheem Mfg. Co. Hp enlisted in the army in August. 1943. and was later assigned to the 77th Liberty division.
