Taps to HonorVeterans HereVeterans will be honored in short ceremonies at five downtown intersections at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. The Veterans Day observance is being sponsored by the American Legion, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14.The ceremonies are to be conducted consecutively, one directly following the other, from 7th and Mass. Sts. to 11th and Mass. Sts. The first observance will be at 11 a.m.Color guards from the Kansas University ROTC, the National Guard, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Post 112 will be at the intersections. Buglers from the Lawrence High School Band will play “taps” as the flags are saluted.Large bells also will ring during ceremonies at three of the intersections—7th, 9th and 11th Streets. Members of the above groups and World War I and Disabled American Veterans will be at the five observancesIn charge of the Nov. 11 commemoration is Carl Reuter, chairman of the Americanism Committee of the American Legion, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14. Working with him are Martin Chapman and Alex Torrez.Lawrence patriotic organization will sponsor a public tea at 2 p.m. unday, Nov. 10 in the Police-Fire Building. Henry Booth will give the address.
