WORLD WAR II VETERANSTwo World War II Air Force veterans, retired Chief Master Sgt. David E. Garrett and Staff Sgt. Joseph Crea, received the Bronze Star Medal during a ceremony at Tyndall Oct. 30.Garrett and Crea earned the medals for their combat efforts during World War II. Both served in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations between Dec. 7, 1941 and May 10, 1942, and now reside in Bay County. The medals are being presented in the Department of Defense’s continuing effort to recognize meritorious achievements during the warAlso honored was Lt. Col. Jimmy P. Rhodes, chiet of Target Systems Division, 475th Weapons Evaluation Group, who retired from active duty after 29 years. During the ceremony, Rhodes also received the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding performance of duty at Tyndall.
