YEOxMEN (F) BEARING CASKET OP FORMER COMRADE, AND MARINESThe funeral of Miss Helen Gately of Roslindale was held this morning- with a solemn mass of requiem in the Sacred Heart Church. Rev Fr John F. Cummins, the pastor, was celebrant; Rev Fr Eugene A. Twomey, deacon, and Rev Fr Henry C. Reardon, subdeacon.The bearers were the following six yeomen (F), who were Miss Gately’scolleagues in the service: Misses Marion Dunn, Jennie Driscoll, Marie Morris, Lillian Gately, Margaret O’Connell and Celia Flynft. A detail of marines formed a guard of honor, as the casket was being carried from the church. Both the casket and the hearse were draped with the American flag.The burial was in the family lot in New Calvary Cemetery, where the Marine Corps firing squad, in charge off Corp Frank Korman, fired a volley., Bugler R. T. Gaude of the Charlestown ! Marine Barracks sounded taps.Miss Gately, who was 23 years of age, was a yeoman (F) attached to the coast inspection forces at Fore River. She die(( Saturday, following a week's illness with pneumonia. Hundreds or ! her friends filled the church during the services, and many people lined the streets as the cortege passed on its way to the cemetery.
