THIKTY YEARS AGO Thursday, Nov. 1,1945 At a meeting of Kittannmg Council, Junior Order of United American Mechanics, attention of members was called to the American flags flying over different public buildings The condition of some flags, due to the weather is a disgrace to the community, it was charged Posthumously a Silver Star and Bronze Medal have been awarded to Sgt. Beryl E McFarland, reported to have been killed Oct. 30, 1944, while serving with an Infantry unit of Gen. Patch's Sixth Army in France, Sgt McFarland was a son of Mr. and Mrs K G. McFarland of Rural Valiev.
