Camp Gifu, Japan about 200 miles south of here.I had heard that my brother, Pic. Arthur R. Mooney was also servingun Japan, but I didn't know where* While standing in chow line early this week I saw this guy who looked like my brother, but I didn’t hardly think it was him. I went over to ! make sure, and it was my brother. I learned that| he was with the 3rd Battalion of the 9th Marines I while I am in the 2nd Bn. of the 9th Marines. He ■ had been at Camp Otsu while I was at Camp I Gifu.I was drafted into the Marine corps on 23 Oct. i 1952 and my brother enlisted on the 3rd of Janu-jary, 1953. 1 had just reported to Camp Lejeune, . N. C. from my boot leave when Arthur arrived j home on boot leave, so I missed him there. After j i his leave he also reported to Camp Lejeune but i ! because of a mixup in orders I was unable to get j in contact with him. Seemed that every time I i went looking for him, he had just been transferred j to another outfit, Arthur received his orders for | overseas before I could ever get in touch with him. j I also got my overseas orders a few weeks later j and we missed each other at Camp Pendleton, ! California. jj It was not until early this week that I saw Arthur ! ! for the first time since I left home almost a year ; ago to this date.We are together now but in November we will j both go back to our original bases of Gifu and j Otsu. We hope to keep in closer contact with each j other from now on since these bases are only 50 miles apart.Our parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oscar Mooney. Ashford, W. Va.
