COMMUNITY MEETING HELD.A community meeting was held last Friday afternoon at Central, Heth township. There were about two hundred people present. The following program was rendered:A pole forty-two feet long was raised by the pupils and patrons. Song, j America by all. Mr. Colwell Frakes tin over-sea veteran raised the ilag., After raising it some eight or ten feet the primary part of the school gave their Hag salute and the pupils of the upper grades gave their flag salute. While Mr. Frakes finished raising theflag the school sang Star Spangled Banner. After this song Columbia The (Jem of The Ocean was sung. A talk on Better Schools. Better Equipment by T. J. McClarenl County Superintendent gave many! ways why our schools should be better and how better equipment might he obtained which were very interesting and well taken by the audience. After the County Superintendent’s talk Battle Hymn of The Republic was sung. Then came Colwell Frakes’ talk of Over Seas experiences which held the audience spell hound for forty minutes. He related many thrilling incidents. Mr. C. W. Thomas Ex-County Superintendent gave a very interesting talk on School and Com* munity interest in which he showedthat a community must support their teachers by their help and presence, and he spoke of the school ground and its needs such as a cistern, wood shed, painting of the school house. He was followed by Mr. Walter Applegate, Mr. John Danner, Mr. Cordia Watson and Mr. George Amy pledging their support to help in the improvements of the school grounds and community interest.The teachers in the Central school are D. W. Neely and Faye Singelton.From one who was there.
