It was also a holiday for students.The sunshine, which brightenedan otherwise damp spring, was a welcome addition to traditional Memorial Day services Wednesday.Services were conducted at Cla-quuto, CenlraUa’s George Washington park, Winlock community building, Napavine cemetery and at the Little Falls cemetery.Except for police and fire departments, public offices on thecity, county, slate and federal levels remained closed Wednesday .Traffic volume on highway 99 was reported heavier Ilian an average weekend, but not unusual for a holiday. The slate patrol said the volume was about equal to that recorded on a Friday or Sunday.A feature attraction of Memorial Day in the Twin Cities, the auto thrill show, was postponed until Saturday, Paul Creighton, Southwest Washington Fair manager, said the fairgrounds track was too wet and spongy for the show Wednesday. A full program will start at 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Creighton.
