Brneggemanu, and a Urge number of citizens, Aggregatinguonrly 300, weal on the ^IeBmofc to Jefferson Barracks, Sunday, to participate in the decoration of the soldiers’ graves, The boat left our levse about ten o’clock in the morning, and made a quick run to St, Louis and the Barracks, whore an immense crowd .congregated. The Alton Gcards was the largeet,company la attendance, and was given ^tha post of honor, tbe advance in the procession at the cemetery—by those through whose Invitation the excursion was . undertaken. The excursion wad very quiet and orderly,* and nothing o ecu red to mar the harmony of Ibe occasion. The boat returned to^onr levee about 10 o’clock last night, but a few of Guards remained 07er and came up on tbe train this morning.The K-pqblioia epesks of tha Alton Guards in the foliwing complimentary manner* “A well drilled company ostue down on the DeSmet, which was chartered for the special use of the company and their friends. Several hundred citizens of Alton and vicinity took passage on the boat and attended the ceremonies. Tbe Alton company numbered a little over forty muskets and gave evidence of excellent dfeoipUae. Their drill was good and their uniforms bright and showy. At tbe barracks they wore assigned a place at tbe left of tbe Police Reserves.”
