The salute was done behind the Legion building and repeated at the Humboldt County Courthouse.Memorial Day servicesforced inside by rainFor the first time in many years, Memorial Day services were forced inside and the parade cancelled by rain and cold temperatures Monday.A large crowd attended at the Legion building basement with the Humboldt High School Marching Band gathered in the back room.The firing squad shot off a salute in die back alley.Address of the Day was by Phil Kennedy, president of Hawkeye Bank and TrustMaster of Ceremonieswas Rich Moench, Rev. Jerry Raether gave the invocation and benediction.Other speakers included: Beth Holst, Kari Kruml and Nicci Leibold.Leah VanGronigen, daughter of Richard and Darla VanGronigen, and Katie Hoskins, daughter of Brian and Kayleen Hoskins, laid poppies along simulated graves.Mayor Jean Kieve of Humboldt and Mayor Peggy Rice spoke about the flag project and dedicated the new flags for their respective main streets.Zoning CommissionThe Humboldt County Zoning Commission will meet on Monday, June 1, at 8 p.m. at the Humboldt County Courthouse for ation from flood plain conservation to mineral extraction district for the south one-half of the north one-half of section 28, town-
